Backpacks

With September arriving shortly we are able to reap the benefits of "Back To School Sales"!

In September our Enrichment Committee will be helping you to gather supplies for your72 hr kits! With this in mind and sales in the air...start scouting for backpacks to hold your 72 hr kits.

We have been searching, and found that Walgreens is having a sale on backpacks 2 for $9.99.

Keep searching the ads and let us know what you find!

Park Day Schedule

We want to see you at the park! It is almost time for the kids to go back to school and our little ones left at home will enjoy fun days at the park!

Aug 12th Pioneer Park (across from the police station)
Aug 19th Church (cultural hall)
Aug 26th Bunkerville Park

Beat the Heat!

Things are changing in Mesquite! The hot weather is here and our little bodies are starting to melt into puddles of sweat. Many of are dear ladies have left us for a cooler climate and yet we persevere acclimatizing year after year to the scorching heat. Our sisters who were born and raised here say you become so used to the heat that you don't even feel it. Do we believe them??? Give us 20 more years and then we will be ready to respond!

As sisters in Zion we can overcome! How will we deal with the hot days of a Mesquite Summer you might ask??? We can beat the heat by having so much fun we forget to complain!

Park Days.............
Tammy Bingham is working on a new schedule for Park Days. We will be alternating between the Stake Center Cultural Hall, the Bunkerville Water Park and the Mesquite Water Park. Calendars will be coming soon!

Wonderful Walking Women..............
This group is still going strong. Marianne Johnstone is in the lead passing us all in the Salt Lake City Valley and walking on to Jerusalem. Next Walking Group will be at the home of Shemri Bracken. June 23, 2009 @ 7:00 pm.

Book Club............
Georgia Johnson hosted in the month of May! Women who attended are now financially smarter. Details for June will be coming.

Last but not least we are looking to please the sisters in our ward. Please let us know what you are interested in so that we can accommodate everyone. Soon we will have a survey posted on line and look forward to all of your comments. Look here for upcoming events. Here is a sneak peek: 1. Marjorie Fowler has brightened our Relief Society with her personality so let's brighten her day and attend her baptism! Along with her children Marjorie has made the choice to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are so excited that she has also decided to become a member of Mesquite 1st Ward.

Come to Enrichment Night and we will help you make a really cute apron (or several).

Later in the year, we will be compiling our own recipe book. The apron and a copy of the recipe book would make an adorable and useful gift.
Inexpensive too!

Bring your sewing machine and a pair of scissors if you have them. If you know how to sew, come on out and lend a hand.

You'll need 1 yard of your favorite fabric plus 3/4 of a yard of an accent color for each apron. 3 packages of rick-rack for trim and/or 2 yards of 1 1/4" grosgrain ribbon (for the ties) are optional.

Quilting

Just a friendly reminder for everyone to meet at the Stake Center Tuesday April 21 @ 6:30 pm for a great night of quilting. Please attend and join in our efforts to contribute to the Stake Humanitarian Project.

A "Marvelous" Enrichment Night

Attention Mesquite 1st Ward...... A huge shout out to Marianne Johnstone for arranging our special book club night with John & Amy Simmons! Everyone who was there had a great time and enjoyed not only the wonderful author but the yummy treats.

Fun to be had by all!

Our Relief Society Birthday Party was a success. We had such a great turnout and we think everyone had a lot of fun. For those of you who were not able to attend we hope to see you at our next events.




A special thanks to Gail Smith for doing such a great job narrating our lovely play. What woman could pull off this costume but Miss "PURSE"illa Fae?

Attention Mesquite 1st Ward!!!!!!

We are going to try blogging so that all of you may have access to what is on the agenda for Mesquite 1st Ward Enrichment Meetings and Activities. With so many different groups and activities we thought that we needed a place where you could come and check out schedules, look at ideas, offer ideas and enjoy some of the fun pictures we take at all of these events.

Let's begin.......

Monthly Groups include:
Wonderful Walking Women - This group tracks the minutes they walk each day. The 4th Tuesday of each month this group meets together to report progress, exchange a healthy recipe and walk together.


Park Day is for the young and old! Come with child in hand or just to visit with the ladies. Every Wednesday this group meets at 10:30 AM. (Park by the library).

Book Club - A great opportunity for everyone to share what they have been reading and join in for a great discussion. Look forward to the exciting Book Club in April where we get to meet the author. Details soon to follow.
